Donald Trump made more promises as he prepares for a potential return to the White House:
“I want to thank the millions of Americans across the country. We’ve been through so much together, and today, you’ve turned out in record numbers to bring us victory. This is something special. And we will repay you. We will do the best job possible… we will turn things around. This day will forever be remembered as the day the American people took back control of their country.”
**Trump Praises Elon Musk**
Trump also praised billionaire Elon Musk, who invested over $120 million to help ensure the success of his campaign.
“He’s a special person, a super-genius,” Trump said of Musk. “We need to protect our geniuses. We don’t have many people like that.”
**Trump Claims Popular Vote Victory**
In addition to securing the necessary 270 electoral votes, Trump also declared victory in the popular vote, even as states across the U.S. continued counting ballots.
“Thank you all so much. Winning the popular vote is truly amazing,” Trump said.
No Republican presidential candidate has won the popular vote since the 2004 election.
Speaking on stage in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump declared victory in the election and pledged to bring about a “golden age” for America.
“We will fix the borders. We will improve everything about the country. We made history tonight for one reason, and that reason is because we overcame obstacles no one thought possible, and now it’s clear that we’ve achieved one of the greatest political miracles.”
Trump continued: “I want to thank the American people for the incredible honor of being elected as your 47th and 45th president. And as a citizen, I will fight for you, for your families, and for your future. Every day, I will fight for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have a strong, safe, and prosperous America—the America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be a golden age for the United States.”
According to projections from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), Trump is predicted to win the U.S. presidency by securing victories in key battleground states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and the smaller state of Alaska, thus surpassing the 270 electoral vote threshold.
According to The Hill, Trump’s win this year is considered quite convincing. He secured Georgia, held onto North Carolina, and broke through the Democrats’ “blue wall.”
He is also projected to win a narrow popular vote victory, something he failed to do in 2016 and that Republicans have only accomplished once since 1992.
CNN analyst Chris Wallace remarked: “Overall, Trump had a better election compared to 2020, while Harris performed worse than Biden did four years ago.”
Following his 2020 defeat, Trump quickly announced his intention to run again. This energized his supporters and marked the start of a new journey.
Since 2023, Trump has held large-scale rallies, drawing huge crowds of loyal voters. He has focused on delivering a strong message of “America First” and national interests, rebuilding trust along the way.
On his path back to the White House, Trump has faced numerous accusations and lawsuits related to his finances and the events of January 6, 2021.
On May 30, 2024, a New York City court found Trump guilty of falsifying business records to cover up a “hush money” payment. He is expected to be sentenced later this month.
Although this lawsuit could affect his reputation, Trump has skillfully turned it into a tool to galvanize his base.
Several prominent figures within the Republican Party have opposed Trump’s re-election bid, causing internal divisions. However, Trump has leveraged this criticism to reinforce his image as an “outsider” fighting against the system.
Trump has not only emphasized America’s economic challenges but has also focused on pressing issues such as immigration, national security, and protecting traditional values. He has sought to address the needs of voters in battleground states through tough and decisive policies.
To gain an edge, Trump has concentrated efforts on swing states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida. His aggressive rallies and campaigning in these regions have garnered significant support.
Two failed assassination attempts in July and September 2024 further strengthened Trump’s image as a resilient figure who remains “undeterred,” solidifying his base and contributing to his wide electoral support in this year’s election.
